Professor S.N. Sridhar is SUNY Distinguished Service Professor, Professor of Linguistics and India Studies, and Director, Mattoo Center for India Studies at Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New York. He is author of three books, editor of two others, seven special issues journals, and numerous journal articles and book chapters. His research deals with Kannada grammar, the sociolinguistic, and psycholinguistic dimensions of bilingual language use in India involving Sanskrit, English, and Indian languages, Indian English and its implications for a theory of Second Language Acquisition. He is leading a consortium of scholars translating the 15th century Kannada Mahabharata by Kumaravyasa, which is being published in four volumes in the Murty Classical Library by Harvard University Press.
